I'm so upset about this cake.

I ordered a special cake for DS's 40th. Chatted to the woman for some time a month ago with size, specifications etc. I rang up today to ensure it would be ready for pick up on Wednesday as arranged and she said oh did you want it for this week? We'll I won't have time to make it now.
I am so bloody furious. I haven't paid anything but we discussed this and she said yes to the collection date.
Total let down. How can people do this?
Where can I get a nice off the shelf cake at the last minute? Not the bloody same though.

Waitrose, M&S or Lola’s cupcakes. I’d never trust ordering over the phone, assuming you didn’t get the order confirmed in writing

Thanks for the suggestions. I got it in writing on email. But I guess as no money has been paid I cant do anything about it.
