Challenge TV sound and vision out of synch

My mum has just bought a new TV. Her favourite channel is Challenge. However, there is a 3 second delay between people talking and the sound happening.

Does anybody have any idea why and what to do about it? Mum is housebound so it’s really important to her.

I get this sometimes on several Freeview channels and never been able to work out what causes it. It comes and goes.

If it's a smart TV she could try watching via Freeview Play.
