She'd been run over and had died.

She wasn't just taken away.

I'm glad my daughter had Christmas Day before her gorgeous little world imploded.

No she was taken away as that's the wording the poster needed to use. We do not get to tell others how to deal with the grief.

You may not chose to use thos words when you grieve but that's your choice when it's a out your grief.

Both those posts are from the same poster. Maybe read a little more carefully before you pop your tone police hat on?

I had a big party 4 days before my birthday and then flew to LA for 3 days on my actual birthday. We took the DC to Disney and then went in a cruise to Mexico.
I like to arrange treats for myself on my birthday and I always have a lovely day.

Went to Paris with a bunch of friends. It was November and freezing. It was mostly fun. Been to Spain previously to the South for birthday and warmer was better!

For 60th am planning a big holiday just DH and I...he doesn't fully know this yet.

thesugarbumfairy · 02/05/2023 11:39

Did weekend at centreparcs with a large group of friends. And also a spa overnighter with another group of friends which included entertainment in the evening.

EmmaEmerald · 02/05/2023 11:41

Vegas with sis and two friends. Mostly stayed at the Lake. Was amazing. So much fun.

Hate having parties for myself and was also missing the younger me that had lots of adventures. So went on a (luxury) safari in Kenya by myself. Spent mornings and evenings on game drives. And long days reading books in the sun. Still paying off the credit card but don't regret it!

Went on a cruise to Norway with my best friend. Fabulous time. It was my first cruise, so wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it was bliss being waited on and not having to lift a finger. Very relaxing time away from my (now ex) husband and kids.

Sat in my friends living room listening to her friend talking about all the super duper stuff she did for her 4th. I couldn't afford any of it and probably went home and cooked dinner. Dh wouldn't have thought to book me a meal out or anything. And my 50th was worse. So now i tell him what i want.

Went to Edinburgh with the girls for a night for my 40th. Life is very different 10 years on.
Was my 50th last year. The kids dad (was divorced and apart for 9 years) and my mam died the year before so starting jan22 I chose to celebrate every month. Had a few holidays in zante, a cruise and rome where i got engaged! Got a tattoo. Adopted a dog from serbia. Went to butlins 80s weekend. Went to a lodge. Played crazy golf. Bought a guitar. Went to some concerts away from home. Concluded with a 70s theme fancy dress party! Best year ever but very expensive!

MrsPoliportsGoose · 02/05/2023 12:13

Went to NYC for 4 days with husband followed by a big night out with friends when we got back.

LancreWowhawk · 02/05/2023 12:13

Spent a stupid amount of money on a dinner, bed and breakfast package for me and DH at the Ritz. Told them it was my 40th birthday and got upgraded to a ridiculously amazing suite. It was massively indulgent and I absolutely loved it,

Wednesdaysotherchild · 02/05/2023 12:14

Isolated in my bedroom with a really bad case of covid. The food and the atmosphere was rubbish, don’t recommend!

33goingon64 · 02/05/2023 13:23

My DH organised a surprise party. It was 100% a surprise - I had no idea at all. All my family and closest friends were in on it and no-one let slip. I loved every minute of it (once I got over the shock). Best day of my life after our wedding and the kindest thing anyone's ever done for me.

garlictwist · 02/05/2023 13:59

Mine was in semi lockdown so I ended up going to the Pencil Museum in Keswick as everything else required booking/was shut. I would not recommend this as a festive activity.

EarlGreyAndCucumber · 02/05/2023 15:52

I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. Some friends came over to our house. We had fish and chips, but I wasn’t well so they went home after the meal, and I went to bed.

My 50th was great though. We stayed in a fancy hotel with my best friend and her partner.

LlynTegid · 02/05/2023 17:59

I spent part of the day in the Prado museum in Madrid. Goya painting of The Third of May 1808 is a masterpiece and I feel privileged to have seen it.

40soon · 02/05/2023 22:39

Thank you everyone for sharing what you did. Been great reading them all and getting some inspiration. Im sorry to those of you who didn't go to plan, hope you can make up for it another birthday.
I'm torn between having a party or a nice restaurant/private dining with 10 close friends etc. Would love to go away but limited on who we can leave kids with!

I had a three week old and a two year old. We managed to get to Wisley for a coffee and a piece of cake. I think in the evening we got a takeaway curry. It was all a bit of a sleepless blur.

8MagicalTreeofLife · 03/05/2023 13:49

Went away for a long weekend with friends

I still have the photos

Errmmmmmmmmmmm · 03/05/2023 17:37
