Cardiff - places to work remotely

I have to dial into a meeting next week between 5-7pm. I'm struggling to think of somewhere in Cardiff that's accessible to the public but quiet enough I can participate in a meeting. Also reliable WiFi etc to facilitate as my camera will need to be on.

Initially thought of the library but it closes at 6pm. Anyone local to Cardiff for any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

There are a few Welsh Gov funded free remote working spaces in Cardiff. Google should throw them up for you.

Do you have an Eduroam account? The Uni has lots of buildings with cafes in or the heathfields restaurant/concourse in the Heath.

WelshNerd · 01/05/2023 23:05

Unfortunately I don't have an eduroam account these days and probably not ethical for me to borrow one.

I'll make some enquiries on those @NoFitStateMum but it seems many of these coworking so spaces don't open after 6pm.

Costa on Queen street is open till 7pm and should be pretty quiet around that time.

I’m a NoFitState mum as well!

Lounge of one of the decent hotels?

Magicmagician · 01/05/2023 23:15

Village hotel near junction 32 of M4 (north Cardiff) has a co- working space, maybe there?

Crazymadchickenlady · 01/05/2023 23:16

Or st David’s shopping centre has pretty good free wifi and random seating around

Crazymadchickenlady · 01/05/2023 23:18

Do you have a car or stuck in the city centre?

WelshNerd · 01/05/2023 23:22

I have a car but don't want to be too far away from the city centre as I have another meeting in the centre after 7. I'm trying to reduce travel time between the two as much as possible.

I'm worried that free WiFi won't have enough bandwidth to do a 2 hour teams meeting?

You could tether and Hotspot off your phone if you have enough data

Wetherspoons is actually a pretty good place to be able to work! Generally quiet, free wifi, free heating and unlimited refills on hot drinks!

Teams absolutely drains my mobile's battery really quickly when I use it as a hotspot for my laptop.

I'm now booked into tramshed tech.

That looks like a good solution. I’ve never heard of it (well I’ve heard of the tramshed and saw Divine Comedy there a while back!)
