I’m going to have to cancel this holiday aren’t I ?

I’ve put this on chat as couldn’t decide what subject to put this on .
A week ago my dc a teenager had a tooth out under anaesthetic at the hospital. My son has sen and as the lip was numb bit into it .
he has actually took a chunk out of the lip so we went to A&E and to cut a long story short was told can’t have stitches just put ice on .
anyway kept dc off school as in some discomfort not eating etc . Took him to the doctors as it’s got infected and antibiotics prescribed.
we are due to fly this weekend ds is not much better he’s not eating or drinking much and isn’t cooperative with taking his medicine. He’s very unhappy but as he’s non verbal I don’t know if in pain or just uncomfortable. The lip still looks infected and not very nice .
I’m desperate for him to go back to school tomorrow as me and dh really need to be in work tomorrow and can’t take any more time off.
I’m also very stressed that he’s not going to be well enough for this holiday . I was so looking forward to it but not if dc not well enough .
everyone I’ve spoken to thinks he’ll be better by then think they are just reassuring me .
but it’s been a week and slowly healing or it may need different antibiotics or should I give them time to work ? .
dh just keeps saying he’ll be fine but after not a good day today even he’s undecided what’s best .
argh what would you do ?

Why can’t he go on holiday?

He’s still got a week to get better - I’d cross my fingers and hope he improves!

You can still go if he’s not 100%, just factor in plenty of downtime.

I think it will probably feeling more comfortable by the weekend. Lips are usually fast healing. He needs to take his antibiotics though. I know that's tricky with SN kids sometimes.

Will you lose money ? If it were me I'd Go ! If he's in pain or he's uncomfortable he's in pain and uncomfortable regardless of which part of the world you're in. You never know it might cheer him up a little

Lips heal quickly and antibiotics turn infections around once they start working. I would still be optimistic. At worst, surely you are postponing rather than cancelling?

Everyone keeps telling me they think he’ll be better by the weekend so thanks for those that think the same .
@Poppyblush he can but will he enjoy it if feeling in pain and can’t eat well ?
@HaveANiceFuckingDay possibly we have insurance but it’s a faff and who knows when we can rearrange. I could just about afford it this week I’ve looked at the next few weeks / months and the price has soared so even if we get our money who knows if and when I can re book .

What's the healthcare like where you're going, and do you speak the language?

I think GP appt or econsult tomorrow and ask if it's time to try a new antibiotic.
