Missing items - am I going crazy?.

I think I'm losing my marbles! Two weeks ago I was looking for the kitchen scissors - no where to be found - both pairs missing. Checked in all drawers and cupboards and also turned dd room upside down ( she likes crafting things) . Nothing. Tonight I was looking for the bath flannels - again BOTH have disappeared. I've checked in DD room. Washing basket. Washing machine. Nothing! Any ideas?

Have you asked DD to look?
Are they in the washing machine?
The microwave?

Yes. No and no.

Are they in a duvet cover from last time they were washed. Lots of my washing ends up there.

Failingatthemoment · 30/04/2023 22:43

I would just accept the situation if it was just one off item going missing. But FOUR? HMM

Have you checked under your floorboards for Borrowers?

Plethoraofwoo · 30/04/2023 22:44

This reminds me of the missing ironing board thread -does anyone know what happened to it?

Op have you pulled the drawers out in case they are down the back or something?

No. Do bedding every week. Anyway, unlikely as bedding white and flannels not. Thanks anyway

I’d forgotten about the missing ironing board thread.

In my childhood home we had a poltergeist who liked scissors, they were always going missing.
One time, when I was a teenager, I was wrapping Christmas presents. I finished wrapping and went to put the paper etc away. I couldn’t find the scissors anywhere. I had a bean bag in my room and picked that up several times to look under it for them. The rest of the floor was clear and tidy. I stood in the middle of the room and asked if I could please have the scissors back.
Nothing.
So I sat on the bean bag to watch tv. I felt a movement under me and there were the scissors, under the bean bag.

So, chances are your DD has them. Or it’s a poltergeist…

Last time I looked for the missing ironing board thread, I couldn't find it. Grin

fivetriangulartrees · 30/04/2023 23:21

I still think about that ironing board.

AdoraBell · 30/04/2023 23:23

My DH has taken them for the garage. He’s fed up with me buying more when he takes them, so he’s taken yours.

Failingatthemoment · 30/04/2023 23:24

I too would like to know what happened to the ironing board - I'd like it even more if I could find MY items 🤣

In our house and previous house socks were the main problem!! I still feel massively satisfied if I can pair up all socks !

Notaposhette · 30/04/2023 23:26

Scissors may have gone in the bin or down the back of a drawer and into the cupboard underneath? Are your flannels stored in an airing cupboard? They have a tendency to be sucked down the back by the water tank in my house!

What I want to know is where are all of my teaspoons? I had 6 as part of a cutlery set now theres only one!

Notaposhette · 30/04/2023 23:28

Another thought- are they in with the crafting stuff say a pile of card of paper?

IfIGoThereWillBeTrouble · 01/05/2023 01:49

@Failingatthemoment if you are the poster who lives in a new build and is noticing strange feelings, that explains the missing scissors😂 (yes, I know you’re not really that poster, I was trying - and failing - to be funny)

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 01/05/2023 03:26

Flannels could they be tucked away with towels or other cleaning cloths? That’s where mine disappear to.
scissors seem to either get under all the other junk in the cutlery drawer or under the bowl in the sink, on occasion tucked away with sellotape/envelopes/string etc.
