Airbnb host didn't leave us a review

Spent a few days in a property, left a nice review. The host told us that she would leave us a good review but she hasn't. I'm concerned because she mentioned that for bad guests she doesn't leave negative reviews, she just doesn't leave a review for them at all.

I've checked her profile and she has left reviews for all the other guests that stayed in her property around the same time period. I can't think what we could have done wrong. We were quiet, respectful, followed her rules, I cleaned and tidied before we left, I stripped the beds, took out the bins, we left on time. When we arrived the shower door was broken by a previous guest. I don't think we broke it anymore...?

Should I ask her if there was a problem? Or should I just chalk it up to experience and move on? What would you do?

Move on

Doidontimmm · 30/04/2023 21:31

Did you mention the door to her?

SageMist · 30/04/2023 21:32

I've just been away for the weekend and I didn't know Airbnb host reviews were a thing. Lovely to have one, but I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't get one. Why does it matter either way?

This happened to us. The host did eventually leave a review a few days later but said something slightly odd - two bedroom property, two of us stayed (couple) and we used both beds. Host insinuated we'd had other people to stay. We hadn't, but I get migraines that wake me up in the early hours and take myself elsewhere so I don't disturb DP so I'd gone into the second bedroom.

I suspect your host is stewing on something. Did they or you mention the shower door from the off?

It matters because you get a rating and if a property isn't instant booking, hosts can check you out and decide whether they want to let you stay in their place.

She was the one who told us about the broken shower door and suggested we were careful. It had been broken by a previous guest but she hadn't had a chance to fix it. We were careful I thought.

Yes I'm torn between thinking I should just move on and checking whether there was a problem.

Can other hosts see that she has declined to give me a rating?

Just forget it and move on. Maybe she's just busy or has forgotten.
The worst that will happen is another host in future will see that you have a stay without a review. Not a problem.

CordylineHair · 30/04/2023 22:04

As a host sometimes I forget 😳

I mean to do it but I have to write up to three a week sometimes.

I rarely look at guest reviews either. Only if they've made an odd request.

CordylineHair · 30/04/2023 22:06

And no, hosts if they even bother to look, can only see the reviews you have been left.

Don't overthink it!

drpet49 · 30/04/2023 22:09

Delete the review you posted for her. Two can play that game.

Napsarethebest · 30/04/2023 22:48

Thank you. I'll stop worrying. I hope we unwittingly cause any problems and it is an oversight on her part.

Just move on. I’m not sure why it matters?

mindutopia · 30/04/2023 22:59

She’s more than likely just forgotten. Honestly, I’ve never even checked my reviews and I use Airbnb regularly. Sometimes it takes me weeks to remember that I need to do one.

Me either.. I’ve booked an Air BnB for a few weeks time..
Are we expected to strip the beds etc??
usually we’d stay in a hotel and this is costing more than a travelodge but the travelodge were all booked out (there’s a big event on for that date)

Theeaglesoared · 30/04/2023 23:32

I'm a host and quite often forget to leave a review for a guest. Doesn't mean they've done anything wrong.

But that only applies to reviews that have been left. Hosts don’t somehow magically get insight into other hosts who didn’t leave a review which means OP is a bad guest.

Snozzlemaid · 30/04/2023 23:54

Poppiesway1 There will usually be a few instructions (rubbish etc) left for you and they will say if they want you to strip the beds when you leave.

Selfvacationer · 25/07/2025 14:58

Commenting on an old thread! But I've just had this. I have 20 stays with glowing reviews and the place I stayed last week hasn't reviewed me yet. I stripped the beds, took out the rubbish, hoovered, even put cleaner down the loo! I did message on the day to ask if they could possibly leave and it was read but not replied to. I've never had this before, usually it's the same day. I feel stupidly anxious about it, like they think I did something wrong!? I think I'm just being crazy about it though.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/07/2025 13:17

Sorry to add to zombie thread also but this has just happened to us … left the place immaculate and obeyed all the rules. Did my review a few days after checking out which is two weeks ago tomorrow so in theory they could review this evening I guess?

But yea given that when I’m looking for a place on Airbnb reviews are very important so I know how helpful my good reviews are it feels like the mutually courteous thing to do.

It's annoying, isn't it!? I actually messaged our hosts asking if they would mind leaving a review and they read it and didn't reply. It just makes me worried they thought we were bad guests, but I can't fathom how. I always try and leave a review early as it's the polite thing to do imo...!?

Selfvacationer · 27/07/2025 15:45

Oh oops, I said that twice 🙈
