Advice please - tomatoes thrown at our house

Please can I ask for advice please.

We've lived in our house for 10 years. It's a bit different to the other houses in the neighborhood in that it's newer and detached whereas the others are semi detached or terraced which is why it might stand out and be a bit of a target? We work full time, don't have house parties/ loud BBQs etc.

About 1-2 times a year, we've had kids play 'knock and run'. No massive deal. However, 2 weeks ago on the weekend, we had it twice in one night, the latter being at 10 o'clock at night and really loud.

Last night, it happened about 5 times and then some banging on the windows. It turns out that it was tomatoes. This appears to be an escalation of activity. What to do? We're going to buy a new bulb for the outdoor light and leave it on, get a Ring doorbell (useful anyway) and start a diary. We don't know who's been doing it. I guess they are looking for a reaction?

Luckily my kids slept through it, but it's not a nice feeling and I'm worried it might turn to stones or our car getting damaged.

Any advice welcomed. Thanks

Do people who don't live in detached houses not work full time and have barbecues then?
I must have missed the memo.

It was just started to say that we're not noisy.

Ringo camera, followed by police report.

OldTinHat · 30/04/2023 16:57

Definitely get a Ring doorbell.

No doubt kids but you should be able to identify them. (As I did with the stupid idiots at 430 today who decided it was hilarious to break everyone's windscreen wipers in the road!)

@OldTinHat yikes

I would actually contact the police now.

Fatandfunny · 30/04/2023 17:43

That’s very odd. And I’d be surprised if it was anything to do with the size of your house. There must be something else behind it. Have any of you, inc the kids, pissed anyone off?

Florissant · 30/04/2023 18:05

OP, that sounds like an awful situation. I agree with getting a camera. Perhaps it's a case of mistaken identity?

Get a ring doorbell and put something on Facebook asking if anyone else is having trouble with night time door knocking and tomatoes being thrown. It’s likely not just to be you.
