I have a full blown Headcorn. Nose partially blocked.
Head hurts and feels like it weighs a ton.
Keep sneezing
Started coughing this evening

I cant sleep just cant get comfortable. I need to stay upright to not get a fully.blocked nose. But I cant sleep upright

Dh and ddog are both snorring away. I feel like I have all the worlds tea inside me.

Taken medication no temperature

Any suggestions for how to get comfortable enough to sleep?

I have covid and all the same symptoms and haven't slept for 3 nights pretty much. Have you tried steam? I'm just going to put a boring podcast on and hope o drift off.

Have you got any Vicks? I find slathering that across my chest and nostrils helps a little for the nose blockage. Paracetamol or Lemsip for the cold and pain. Cough syrup if needed.

It will be hard to sleep but put on some comforting TV that you can fall asleep to (2 Broke Girls is my go to) and hope that that helps you drift off in time.

Any recommendations for boring podcasts 😃

Sorry to hear you have covid. That wiped me out last year.

Done the wicks and paracetamol

I'm odd i utterly loathe lemsip cant stomach it
Dh adores them when he is sick. He helpfully told me earlier he thinks he is getting what I have. Sighs. Just once I'd like to be sick without he gets sicker. However a cold does tend to spread around.

I would just do comfort TV and accept you won’t sleep well for a night or two at this point. Sorry! Anything you find comforting on TV will be good while you can’t sleep.

Stuff You Should Know is great if you want a podcast. The two part episodes on ants were great when I had a bout of insomnia.

Enko · 30/04/2023 01:15

Omg I would never live it down if I did a podcast on ants. I rolled my eyes ay dh and the teenage kids loving ants Canada 😁

I may go put on 4th episode of crime weekly memphis series but its 100% not boring so won't. Make me sleep

Vicks will help, also get a wee tub of menthol crystals. You use sparingly in boiling water and inhale that will sort your stuffyness out.

I am full of a cold too, i can't tast anything my ears are blocked and I am slightly dizzy ( all par for the course when I get a cold )
I have vick on my chest and on a tissue on my radiator.
Like you @Enko I can't stand lemsip so I make it the proper way , Bechems powders , a teaspoon of honey and 1/4 of a large lemon . Squeeze the lemon into a cup and drop the skin in too , add honey and Bechems, top up with very hot water . Hold the cup upto your mouth ( carefully) breath the steam in for a bit then drink it .

The battersea poltergeist on BBC sounds is a interesting program but easy to listen to .

I did manage to fall asleep listening to Crime Weekly. Ive no clue what happened in episode 4 so will re-listen today again.

Woke up feeling better in as far as head cold is not as heavy in my head and my nose is almost clear (dripping) however I am coughing badly and have close to no voice.

So blanket day today with lots of youtube and games.

Thankfully we had nothing planned for this weekend that was not possible to shift. Sad I won't see my girlfriend for a chat but hopefully she can reschedule for next weekend.

I think because I didn't grow up in the UK this idea of Beecham powders or lempsip is just strange for me not comforting. I stick with painkillers and lemon or if I need steam then I do that. The pharmacist on Thursday suggested I buy an Otrivin nose spray (I cant take cold and flu tablets as they interfere with another tablet I am on) and that has been amazing to clear my nose out. I will 100% use that again next cold.

You can get Lemsip as tablets instead of powder if that works better for you. I hate the taste of the powders but I think drinking it has a placebo effect on me so I suffer through the taste!
