if I win the lottery here are a few contenders.

home one - I like this town and it’s commuting links to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the interior is really nice. Not sure I love the exterior https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/133958864

home two - the balcony and views are lovely, as well as the period features https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/134188973

Home three - cheaper, but with potential https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/127192403

Number 2 by far. If I was mega rich I'd buy a flat in Westminster

emmathedilemma · 29/04/2023 20:58

Not 1, the interior is nice but the exterior looks like an old people’s home and similar money would buy you a decent house actually in Edinburgh.
the Bute house would be a great group holiday house. The Dunbar one doesn’t float my boat, if I was going to live out there I’d need to be within spitting distance of the sea.

Number 2 is amazing, but only if you have £100k or so for upgrading. Otherwise number 1.
Number 3 is remote and tiny and needs a full do-over.

Buy the second, then get the owners of the first to decorate for you!

WeaselKingHenry · 29/04/2023 21:01

Fair points in all cases.

property one it is the interior and commute - but if I won the lottery I would not be heading into the city five days a week!

property two is in my favourite part of Bute, I love Ascog and Montfort.

Property three is less of a lottery home, instead a nice wee project in a lovely part of the world, and I could unleash my interior design inner guru.

Love this thinking, though if want to keep a heritage vibe, just less if the red paint.

I didn’t win the lottery, so house two will not be mine.
