Vets - what would you like as a thank you?

Hi all :)

My kitten is having surgery on the 8th and the animal hospital has been amazing. He has a rare birth defect and they have gone above and beyond to take care of him (and us).

I am hoping to put together a little 'thank you box' for the people on the cat ward, but I am unsure what would be appreciated.

My idea was nice tea bags, nice coffee bags and a big box of biscuits and some chocolates... But open to alternatives!

Thank you

I think that would be lovely. The gesture in itself is a nice one so I think that anything would be appreciated. Something nice for a tea break will always go down well IMO. Hope it goes well for your kitty and am glad you've found a fantastic vets that you trust - it's so important.

Thank you so much!
It has been a traumatic few weeks and the surgery isn't a guarantee... But we have to do everything we can for our pets, don't we :)

I'll get a good selection of biscuits and other bits then. The nurses were with him all night last week and they must get so tired!
He will be in for a few days after surgery, so this will help them keep their strength up.

That is very kind of you .
At my practice we absolutely love to receive sweets , haribo etc.
Nice biscuits , any kind of chocolate.
It is always such a pleasure when we receive a thankyou gift and we are always grateful to be appreciated.

Florissant · 29/04/2023 20:26

What a lovely gesture, OP. I hope all goes well with the surgery.

Amazing! Thank you!
Good idea re adding some Haribo as not everyone likes biscuits and chocolate.

I was worried about whether I needed to buy everything individually wrapped, or are people generally okay with grabbing biscuits and things from a box?

Lovely of you, op. I imagine a communal box will go down a treat.

My vet did an amazing job looking after one of my dwarf hamsters. She was actually a bit of a mini-celeb in the hamster world (I know! bonkers!) and her photo and name was featured on some really cool mugs and fridge magnets, bags etc so I gave my vet one of the mugs and he was thrilled. It was so sweet to see how delighted he was.

Borris · 29/04/2023 23:07

I'd say the message in the card is the most appreciated. Followed by a box of m and s really chocolatey biscuits. And include the nurses, animal care assistants and receptionists too!

Oh wow!

He sounds like a special little guy. :)
The mug sounds awesome and it's a great way to say thank you.

My kitten's defect is super rare, the specialist has been doing this for 20 years and has never seen it before and none of the other vets have either. He is going to be used as a good teaching moment which is kind of cool... But I could do without the worry! Haha

I got a card made and it says thank you to everyone involved. I'm also getting enough treats that hopefully everyone will get something!
It's hard to thank all the amazing people who work behind the scenes :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for your kitten @Indoorcatmum

I know (from my wondervet) there are vet forums where vets share lots of specialist knowledge and ask each other about some of the more weird and wonderful cases so I'm sure your vet will find a way to help.

Awww, that's actually so kind of you to tell me!

I know the condition happens more often in dogs, so they are using their knowledge with that and applying it to my boy :)

Thank you so much for your well wishes!

I gave flowers and chocolates to the vet who saved my cats life. And a card when she against all odds came home.

Florissant · 30/04/2023 20:23

That's so sweet, Toddlertea.
