Please help me find a tablet for work!

So I've just found out I will need to do most of my compulsory training for work online now. Our laptop is so slow it's ridiculous and I find my phone screen a bit small so I'm looking for a tablet.

Ideally I would like 10inch + as I will need to watch videos and I have pretty bad eyesight.

Other than my training courses, I mostly browse online (mumsnet, reddit shopping etc) and would quite like to watch disney + or prime occasionally. I might play the odd game of solitaire or candy crush!

I would like to be able to use dds Bluetooth keyboard if I need to do coursework.

I would like to use the free office apps like on my Samsung phone.

I would need to be able to buy a pretty robust case as I'm very clumsy.

Maximum price £200, ideally closer to £150 as still got a few other bits i would like to buy with our cost of living payment.

Dds have ipads for their school work, im aware I won't get anything as good but we had kindle fire tablets years ago that were so slow it was painful! So don't want another bad purchase!

I've looked on argos and seen a lenovo, a Nokia and a Samsung but the reviews are all very hit and miss so I'm struggling to decide. Anyone have any particular experiences or recommendations?

Thank you!!! 😊

Before you go shopping have you approached your employer to see if they will provide a device? If they won’t then I believe you might be entitled to some tax relief on a device that you buy yourself. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to clarify.

I have a Samsung Galaxt Tab A7. (Might be out of your price range - haven't checked cos I've had it a couple of years.) I love it. Decent screen size, excellent resolution, able to watch TV, movies, play games, email, Internet etc all with ease.

Thank you, I work in a minimum wage term time job and am currently just under the threshold so don't pay tax.

I dont even get paid to do the training even though it is required for my job so very unlikely they will pay for a device. I could technically use my phone but my eyesight is pretty poor so I get headaches when I use it for long periods of time.

I would query that. You should be paid for mandatory training if you are on NMW: https://www.acas.org.uk/getting-paid-for-mandatory-training#:~:text=If%20you%20earn%20the%20National,below%20the%20National%20Minimum%20Wage.. Are you in a union? I would ask them, or ACAS.

I didnt know that, in 8 years I've never been paid for training and usually it's at the weekend or evenings. I have to have safeguarding every 2 years and first aid every 3 years which is a 12 hr course. Then there are lots of courses I am required to do to keep up to date with guidance. I will definitely ask my manager next time I'm asked to do training. I dont have a union as it's only a small nursery.
