WhatsApp question

If you save someone on WhatsApp as "Sam, Joe's Mum" and then you tag them. Does it come up as what you've named them as? Or what they've added themself as?

I've just tried to tag someone in a group, it tags them on my screen by the name I've got them saved as (an abbreviation) not the name showing previously (before I saved their contact).

I have a family member in my phone as their first name, my sister has his nick name when i tagged him in a group chat, she sent me a message saying 'I didnt know you knew his nickname'.
I dont, my tag was his real name so I guess it shows in peoples phone how they have been saved for each person in the group

You see what you have them saved as, they see what they have on their WhatsApp profile ☺️

So on a group WhatsApp....If I save you as Bob in my phone, it comes up on messages as Bob. But only to me. If they have been saved as Jim on someone else phone, it will show as Jim on the same message to them.

Yep my Dad is @Dad on WhatsApp if anyone tags him, even my DH and SIL who don't have him in their contacts as dad
