Hello going to York for the first time ever with a friend for 1 night.
Hotel and train paid for and hotel includes buffet breakfast
We get there for lunch time and leave the following night at around 7pm
We don't want to do any attraction bar the river cruise which is around £16 each i think.
Mainly we want to look around the shambles /nice cocktails (we heard evil eye is nice ) so if anyone knows anywhere else ?
Some nice food
We will just grab a sandwich lunch time but want a nice meal at night.
Can anyone give me a rough idea how much spends they would take ?
I was thinking £300-£400
Is this enough ?

That sounds loads to me! Cut n craft is nice for good and cocktails and sotano is a lovely underground cocktail bar you’d never know was there. You’ll have a great time

That'll be plenty - have a lovely time!

We are staying at Hampton by Hilton Piccadilly
Is this quite central to everything?

Yes and it’s opposite spark which is fun too for cheapish food and drinks. If you’re there you’re near to fossgate/walmgate which is my absolute fave street for restaurants. There’s fossgate social, an ambiente, a cosy club chain pub which is ok and the hop which is a craft brewery but does good pizzas. You’ll have a great time

that sounds like a lot of money for a night out to me!! the most recent meal I had in a fairly upmarket restaurant came to less than £80 per person for 3 courses with wine and cocktails tend to be around £10-12 so i can't see how you'd spend much over £200?
I hope you're not planning to go out drinking carrying that amount in cash?

I'd think £100 for your half of a meal and drinks sounds plenty. I also don't understand why you need to know in advance?

I'm trying to budget and just take what il need so I'm not tempted to spend £50 on York fudge in the shambles
I'm a shops dream for impulse purchases
