Where do you sit when...

In a cinema? Esp an empty one or virtually empty one.
And why? Especially if you're a corner person.

Got a 6 month pass so currently doing lots fo cinema esp in the day, at the quieter shows.

I have a favourite row that sits me middle of the screen and I sit central to the screen.

But so many people go for the top corners or, more confusingly, front bottom corner on a subtitled movie.

It just seems like you're having to twist to see the screen and then look up or down at it, but it's obv working for some people.

I'm just curious.

Highest seat, back against the wall. The gambler's seat.

It’s a decade since I went to the cinema, but like you I would go for central and halfway back or more so I didn’t have to look up so much, if there were plenty of seats to choose. If there were more people I’d balance that with trying to be as far away from them as possible.

In the middle, as far back as possible.

Heroicallyfound · 27/04/2023 22:53

Haha. I always pick a particular place - a little to the left of the middle of the screen, a couple of rows from the back.

I have nystagmus (shaky eyes) and my ‘null point’ (where the shake most settles down) is when I’m looking slightly to my right.

I think a back corner must make people feel safe? It’s natural to want to sit with your back to the wall to watch out for danger! I think feng shui is based on those kinds of principle.

If I could where I wanted I would sit at the back. And I wouldn't invade anyone's space, so not next to or front of or behind anyone.

SorePaw · 27/04/2023 22:58

I haven't been since pre covid.

but I used to choose (looking at the screen) just left if centre about half way back depending on the size of the cinema & how steep the raking of seats is.

I haven't been since I've had glasses,so that may change things too 🤷🏻‍♀️

Near the back at the aisle so I can go for a pee without disturbing anyone

TheRowdy3 · 27/04/2023 23:12

Middle of the middle, unless it's one of those wrap around screens then middle of the row towards the back.

GeraltsBathtub · 27/04/2023 23:17

I’m slightly long sighted, so as far back as possible and usually in the middle to avoid teens snogging in the corners!

AliceMcK · 27/04/2023 23:19

I’m long sighted so like the back, but I sit at the end of the row as I pee a lot. If on my own I’d probably go towards the middle.

DH is shortsighted so prefers being closer.

DCs like to sit right up front.

MyLifeIsFullOfLemons · 27/04/2023 23:20

Depends where the steps are as to whether I’m left or right, but I always choose an aisle seat around halfway up.
