Huh, I don't know much about him apart from generally that he was controversial.

But I remember watching his episode of Who Do You Think You Are - which was years ago, and I think the first time I had seen one with a lot of content about Holocaust family history - and thinking he wasn't what I had expected from his reputation, and it was a moving piece of TV.

With show titles, I married a horse. Who could forget.

He was a judge too

He led a varied life

CherryCokeFanatic · 27/04/2023 15:58

Did he give his Final Thought?

RIP. Enjoyed the drama of his show as a child in the late 90s. Probably shouldn’t have really been allowed to watch it mind

showbiz world are having a bad run past few weeks

I can’t say his shows were exactly a force for good in the world… but I liked the fact he would take the piss out of himself like when he cameoed in Austin Powers with Dr Evil on his show, or when he was on Sabrina.

Lowest common denominator.

I used to watch his show way back. What sticks out in my memory was when he featured DNA testing for paternity and they were testing 10 men for paternity!!
Jeremy Kyle was pretty tame in comparison, at times!!

TheApplianceofScience · 27/04/2023 16:30

No subject too indecent, no individual too pathetic,’ was the show’s production motto and it won audiences of millions in the US and UK.

Cantthinkofaname2203 · 27/04/2023 16:33

In the early days it was much tamer. He would let the guests speak and show themselves for who they were. He was very calm and the voice of reason. Some very good ones showing up antisemitism and the like.

later ones did get a bit soapy and dna test heavy.
