Do you have to pay for Ocado sub differences?

I've always shopped in Tesco and when they've needed to sub they don't charge for the difference, eg if I order orange juice for £1 but all they have is fresh orange juice for £2 they give me the fresh one but only charge £1. I've had an Ocado sub and the item is 80p more but the receipt doesn't make it clear, so I pay for the higher price? (Just so I know going forward...not being in excessively worrying about 80p!)

Yes you do. It's annoying, but on the other hand Ocado usually has fewer substitutions that supermarkets where they pick from the shop.

Yes, you pay the price on the receipt which can be higher (even if matching discount is applied)

They've been doing this for a while and it annoys me. Almost invariably I reject higher price substitutions (unless its a much larger quantity at same unit price and I think I can use the extra)

Thank you, that is annoying, I always felt like I'd cheated the system when the sub was better than what I'd paid for 😂

Yes, they do charge the higher price for the substitute item, so it's always worth checking, as it can be a significant difference.

They always seem to make sure they sub a much more expensive item, never a cheaper option. I hand them back usually. At one point when I was very ill my DH would accept subs and then we just seemed to get more subs each week. I do wonder if they track your sub behaviour.
