DD 12 months jabs today. I've only got ibuprofen in the cupboard. Is this ok?

Also do I give her this an hour before the jabs or not?

Feeling stressed! 😢

That's fine. I never gave mine anything before jabs and was never recommended to. If she seems uncomfortable, then yes, I'd give her some later, but honestly I wouldn't stress about it.

My ds had quite a serious reaction (serious as in uncomfortable and unusual, not dangerous) to his 12 month jabs. He developed an 'sore joint syndrome' or form of reactive arthritis. Basically, he couldn't bare any weight on his legs for about 2-3 days after and it was difficult to even change him because I couldn't lie him down or move his hip joints. It's just an odd immune reaction to the building of of antibodies. Was miserable at the time, but GP reassured it would be short lived and it was. I believe in that instance I alternated ibuprofen and calpol as he was really uncomfortable. But if not for that, I might not have even given him any. My dd on the other hand was absolutely fine and you wouldn't have even known she got them.

You don’t have to give anything before the jabs. She may need some ibuprofen or paracetamol later today if she gets a fever or appears in pain.

Given that they get 4 jabs I always advise parents to get some ibuprofen or paracetamol in, and have a low threshold for giving analgesia if the child appears hot or unwell.

Don't give anything before the jabs. Some trusts will turn you away if you have.

My daughter had had hers last week and was fine. Playing in the garden that afternoon. No temperature. No need for neurophen or calpol.
