Very confused about weaning - Help!

Morning. I was wondering if someone could help please.

We are starting our DC on weaning - purred veg. I puréed a carrot which DC tried two days ago. We froze the rest in ice cube trays.

I want DC to try the puréed carrot again today. I popped out one of the frozen carrot cubes last night and it’s been in the fridge over night to defrost.

Now I am confused. I have read I shouldn’t take the puréed carrot out the fridge and leave on the side. Therefore my options are:

  • Do I feed the puréed carrot to Dc at fridge temp?
  • Can i leave the puréed carrot on the side for any period of time and then serve at room temperature to Dc?
  • Should I re heat puréed carrot straight from fridge. If yes do I do on hob? We don’t have a microwave but will buy one today if essential.

I find it confusing as online suggestions you can’t leave any purees of the fridge at all, yet it also says purees is best served at room temperature.

Help! Sorry!

Just let it come to room temp . I used to do the same as you , make small portions and freeze , a long time ago now 30 yrs . It's fine good for you making your own puree 😊.

I'd just leave it on the side for a bit so it's not fridge cold. My DS was always very fussy about that kind of thing. I don't think it matters much either way though

Thanks. I’m probably over thinking it as a crazy FTM 🤣

I've never followed any of the 'guidelines' on this stuff with my three, they've all survived.

Generally, I used to warm it slightly in the microwave but as you don't have one you could let come to room temp or you could take a small bowl with the puree in and place it in a larger bowl with some hot water in, which will gently warm it.

Ah it's never easy being a first time mum it's a minefield of advice .🤗

You're over-thinking it! I used to freeze various fruit and vegetable purees. Then zap in microwave to warm up, then feed to DD. Alternatively, just warm up over hob, or, if your baby prefers, feed it to them at room temp or from fridge!

Thanks everyone. Carrot went down a treat at lunch - although not due she actually swallowed any of it 🤣
