How long between Job application to start date

just curious really as how long it takes you to start a job once you’ve applied? I’ve had some job applications that have been in process for months, earning £30-40k and it’s very frustrating. Ideally I’d like to leave my job asap, but what sectors are best?

3 months for me last time. 1 month from application to confirmation of post then my notice period.

so the bulk of yours was your notice period then? My notice period is a month, but some of my job applications are taking months just for interview results!

Last year, For me it was 6 weeks between interview and starting my job. I was offered the job the day after the interview.

When I worked in retail, I was able to apply and start a new job within weeks. With my first public sector job, it took a month for a successful offer. Every other public sector role has been so long winded.

For me it was 3 months. Was offered the job mid May on the day of the interview (was earlier than I was anticipating even looking but I needed to get something lined up so was keeping my eye out) and started mid august. I could have handed my notice in there and then but was working with a vulnerable child and wanted to complete the school year with them and ensure a smooth transition from one school to the next. I had a holiday booked for the first part of august so started after that.
I did explain this to my new employers at the end of the interview once it was officially over and we were just chatting and when they called me to tell me I’d got the job they said they were happy to wait.
