Civil service smp/omp

I'm struggling to find this info online so was wondering if mumsnet can help.

I'm currently applying for jobs in the civil service, however not successful yet. I also want to try for a baby towards the end of next year.

If successful getting a job, I'd ideally not want to hold off on ttc so just trying to learn about the maternity pay.

Does anyone know if the CS requires 2 years service to get the 6 months full OMP? Or is it SMP until 2 years service?

Asking as I'm currently in a public sector role and it was 6 months full pay OMP from point of employment (I was past 2 years regardless) so I'm just trying to plan ahead (and save) in case I'm successful in both ttc and finding a new role at some point in the next year or two.

You need to have 1 year's continuous service to be entitled to 6 months full pay, 3 months SMP and then 3 months unpaid.

Ahh okay, that's fair.
I mean all being well I'd have that, as I'm applying now and don't want to ttc until end of next year but obviously I have no control over either success rate aha.
Thank you!
