Facebook ads - good or bad experience?

I see loads of ads for seemingly amazing products, but having been stung once I hesitate to try anything else.

I tried these weird rubbery hairbands, that should give one of those high ponytails. But I think my hair type was all wrong and they didn't stay up. They were expensive for hairbands, £33 (I bought a few different ones and some for my sister).

I've been looking at il makiage (foundation) and merwave (hair products). But the reviews seem too good to be true, and both are quite expensive.

What have you tried? Did it live up to the reviews? Did you find any alternative products that do the same thing?

I just found one out of a drawer (why do I keep things I don't use??) And its a PonyO hair band. I had such high hopes.

I realise I'm talking to myself here, but I just remembered I have fallen for this before...
I ordered 2 dresses and a hoody from 'capes and crowns' (no longer exists - terrible reviews), and while 2 dresses arrived they were months late and not what I originally ordered. Hoody never arrived. Its a shame, because the dresses are great and still worn often - I'd have bought more if I thought they'd arrive.

They are fancy dress themed, but in a comfortable casual dress.

I bought il makiage (foundation) after seeing it on facebook, I love it Grin I'm currently debating whether or not to get a Crimpit.

One of those magic slimming body suits , they sent the wrong size , kept arguing , then ignored me.
🙄
Interested in Il Makiage though so I'll probably fall for it again 😂

Those bra pad sticker things? That the video showed working on big boobs?

Honestly, I'm not sure how I fell for it. Twice, actually. Different brands, but still...

On the other hand I found Snag tights through fb ads, and they're brilliant. As are their chin rub shorts.

VikingLady · 26/04/2023 13:08

*chub rub! Not chins!

everything I’ve bought via a Facebook ad has been useless !
every time I say never buy through Facebook ad again
have made the same mistake at least 6 times !

I think that il makiage is fine tho

I was kind of hoping people would say il makiage is shit, and remove my temptation to buy it!

Is it buildable coverage? I don't really wear make up unless I'm going out out, and then I think I do it really badly while everyone else looks like fb ads and I look like their Mum.

On a different note, please be careful buying through Facebook.
Alot are scams.

My own Facebook page was hacked and disabled due to content he hacker pisted. Whilst trying to sort it, the hacker added lots of friends, set them up as advert administers on my account and placed scam adverts using my account. Thankfully the bank spotted the activity and stopped payments otherwise I would have been £3000.

Alm the adverts were fake scams to dupe others. They look totally legit but are copied versions.

There are thousands of people affected by this "Liy Collins" hacker so these scam adverts are multiplying.
Facebook are aware but are either not interested or incapable of doing anything.

Apologies for typos!
