Hi, I'm travelling to france in a few weeks on the smallest baggage allowance - its so opaque on the website - am I allowed to bring a small handbag for passport and wallet etc as well as the small backpack? TIA

Technically no. I’m reality I always do (fly at least once a month return with Ryanair) it’s a small cross body bag fits my phone, passport charger and headphones. I can tuck it under my jacket or even tie it to my bag

No, and sometimes they pull you up on it. As long as you can cram your handbag into your backpack to cross the threshold at the gate though you'll be fine.

Do you have a spare duty free bag?

We always take a plastic bag with us everywhere. When travelling, we make sure it's a duty free bag. Stick all of our regular airport purchases in there (e.g. Water), and voila, no one can challenge it!

That said, I have never been challenged on my small cross body bag. It fits phone, passport and kindle in it.
