Considering moving for commuting and schools

Hi I’m new to mumsnet and need some advice.

We're considering moving to Warrington for commuting to Salford and also school. My DD is now 3yo and starting her reception next September (in 2024). Recently we viewed a house in Woolston near Woolston Community Primary School and Woolston Church of England (Aided) Primary School both of which look great from what I can see online and also from outside.

Could anyone share your reviews on these schools in Woolston please? How they are or how the catchment works?

Thanks!🙂

What makes you want to move to Warrington?

Would Manchester not make more sense?

Hi @HollyGolightly4 We've been also looking at Urmston and Tyldesley and they're closer to Salford but not found a property in those areas we both like in our budget.

Urmston is lovely! I can't advise on Warrington (other than general impressions plus IKEA) Have you looked at Monton or Prestwich? (Budget dependent!) Was just curious!

Hi @autienotnaught We've actually only recently started viewing houses in Warrington (North East side near M62) as we couldn't find a property in Manchester, mainly Urmston, that we both like in our budget after trying for more than 1 year now.

@HollyGolightly4 Urmston looks really nice and we put an offer on a couple of houses there but no luck. Worsley, Monton and Prestwich also look lovely but we couldn't find any information on their secondary schools. So we recently started looking at Woolston as it seems to have good schools and not too bad for commuting.
