I’m currently watching a film on dvd. It’s just started. It started off normally with sound and then all of a sudden went silent and really fast. I thought they were doing like a recap of a previous film or something along the lines.

Nope. I had accidentally sat on the fast forward button…

I was sat there for 5 mins thinking when is the movie going to start properly…

We started watching last week's episode of Succession. Took 5 minutes before we realised it was the French version

#idiots...

I would love to say how did you not realise but I just spent five mins with a silent movie so what do I know?

My mum tried to watch the new Matilda the Musical film.
Got through the first 10 minutes of the 90s film thinking that they started the new one with an homage to the old one

ItsAsIfWeWereThere · 25/04/2023 19:52

Years ago I watched Shallow Hal and I assumed the fact that in about 90% of the film the characters heads’ were cut off screen was down to the films focus on body size and image rather than on faces etc.
It was of course because I’d accidentally set my tv to widescreen.

Lmao! No, that'd have been too meaningful for mainstream Hollywood!

Would have been an interesting take on the film I’ll say

We just thought Shiv was fluent in French...

Then Hugo? Nah!

We watched the first 10 mins of an "arty" film that had been recommended to us before we realised that the descriptive scene setting was not actually a plot device, but we‘d accidentally put the descriptive audio for the visually impaired on. Was so relieved when I realised I wouldn‘t have to pretend to my friend I‘d watched the whole thing! Idiot.

sociallubricant · 25/04/2023 21:04

I started watching a scandi noir thriller that a friend recommended...i accidentally started on the final episode but didn't realise...watched the whole thing , thinking "this story is confusing but seems to be wrapping up quickly , I can see who the killer is already"
Only when it ended did I realise I'd missed the whole thing and skipped right to the finale!

Me & DH watched planet of the apes with no subtitles on. Obviously this meant we had no idea what the apes were discussing. Took us way too long to notice

Soubriquet · 25/04/2023 21:22

I watch subtitles on everything Grin
