Mirena - bleeding after insertion?

Had a mirena fitted at 9am this morning. Am v v proud of myself as was sexually assaulted in a medical setting a few years ago and terrified of that sort of procedure; so the fact that I got through it is amazing.

Consultant said it was a bit more challenging for her than she expected, have cervical stenosis, tilted womb and there was some other problem, so quite a bit of prodding. I’ve got endo, adhesions, and PCOS. Got a local anaesthetic injection into my cervix too.

She said some bleeding and pain would be normal. I’m in a fair amount of pain - like a very bad period - took cocodamol at 1230 and then again just now, ibuprofen in between, and been lying down watching TV/dozing most of the day.

Getting up to the loo just now I’m bleeding quite a bit - is that normal? Just like
a heavy period? I wasn’t sure if she meant just like spotting after a smear but it’s a bit more than that?

I did when I had my last one fitted. Not with previous ones.

I think this is normal
especially cause of the way your body is like shaped as in pschiology, and medical issues you have got.

I am on my second one mirer coil

I think cause of what you experienced before the trauma of that, you were very brave having this medical procedure too,

Have you had any Therapy for the Trauma you experienced @michaelthemagnificent

I really think when you are feeling up to it, that having some kind of good effective Therapy to deal with specifically with the kind of trauma you have been through, be beneficial to you,

Take care

That was normal for me (have had 2). I needed to take painkillers for the first day or two. Bleeding settled down into spotting after a few days IIRC, but lasted a few months. Was the best thing I ever did though for my periods.

I’m on my second. I bled and cramped a lot with the most recent one.

It’s worth it though.

Well done you. That cannot have been easy.

I can't remember with my first but I definitely bled a fair bit when my second was fitted.
Well done on having yours fitted it can't have been easy with previous trauma. I do really rate it as a contraceptive but I seem to be one of the few I know with it who still has periods.
