My daughter started her periods at 11. Just before she did she had several severe flare-ups of eczema and psoriasis - really, really bad.
She then got warts; on her hands, on her arms, on her legs and even worse, several filiform warts over her face. The GP said it was due to the skin barrier failing due to the severe eczema and psoriasis
We tried everything (even freezing, including the ones on her face), but nothing worked. One day they went. I'd given her zinc and assumed it was that.
What I didn't think of, was they went after her periods became regular and settled into a pattern.
I've never knowingly had warts of any kind (including the time DD was smothered in them and I touched them regularly).
However, I had my last 'proper' period in November and only a light one last month. Six weeks ago I discovered a wart on my finger, now I've noticed another under the nail of the same finger (which I couldn't possibly have infected myself with).
I'm now wondering if there is any correlation between the shifts in hormones at menarche and menopause and wart infections. I'm guessing the answer is no, but I find it highly unlikely that DD got them (and couldn't get rid of them), just prior to her periods beginning and I've got them for the first time in 53 years, just as my periods have ended.
