Does DDs mole need to be checked?

DD has had this mole on her face for a few years now with a smaller one underneath. I noticed this morning the border is a bit uneven. She has had a growth spurt so maybe that's why it looks different to me but just wanted more opinions on if I should see a gp?

I have zoomed in so it's not actually as big as it looks in the photo

It's probably nothing but I would get it checked. Sometimes gps are confident other times they will make at appointment at a specialist mole clinic. My daughter has an unusual one that was tracked for a while as it changes but they aren't concerned.

DH thinks I'm over reacting and we should wait a few weeks/ track it through pictures. DD has sen and finds Dr visits really tough so not sure what to do for the best.

I'd get it checked.

They sometimes change due to hormonal changes so could be the reason it's changed in appearance lately.

That does make it trickier. You could take a photo and send to the doctors with concerns plus measurements. If they think you need referred track it your selves with pictures and measurements as it takes a few weeks usually for an appointment which would give you more time to get your dd used to the idea.

This is both of them together. Again I've zoomed in so they aren't this big and she's had them for ages but they look a bit uneven to me.

Looks normal to me. I have over 200 of the things and have had a few become melanomas so this is based on personal experience only.

Rolypops · 25/04/2023 09:33

DH convinced they are normal as he has loads maybe it's a genetic thing? I don't really have any.

Looks totally normal to me (GP) but get checked if you're worried

Thanks for this. I think it's just the uneven border really as it isn't raised and the difference in colour is only slight.

You might be able to just send the pics to GP without having to take your DD in. I had one recently that looked like it was changing so called GP and they asked for me to just send a pic so they could have a look and get back to me if it needed more checking x

Thats a good idea I might ask to do that. If she knows I'm concerned she will obsess over it and she's already a bit self conscious about them.
