DD’s father has been forging/lying about paying me to CMS!

Spent 2.5 hours going over everything with CMS this morning, as I’d had a letter saying he’d overpaid by over a grand and they wanted me to pay him back! Once my jaw had come off the floor I called them.

Turns out he has been sending doctored bank statements (I assume, obv they couldn’t give me the full details) for over 18 months. I’ve received around £500 from him for Dd since 2020 and he has been saying he’s been paying over £180 per month since then.

I have obviously sent in all the info they need to see he has in face NOT been paying anything.

What a raging pillock he is. Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t even want his money at this point, but for DD’s sake I am absolutely fucking furious!

That's awful. Some men shouldn't be dad's. I hope they penalise him in some way and make him pay whatever he owes.

Only experience I have had is lots of friends XHs paying fuck all and lying about income etc. It just disgusts me, this is another level though.

I've never heard of this. Don't you have yearly reviews OP? Is he self employed? I would contact the police.

Yes I’ve had the yearly reviews! And my money stopped but I was never updated with what he was saying. I have no idea how it happened but he basically faked so many payments on the yearly reviews he was over a grand in credit so didn’t have to pay anything for the year.

I’m going to wait for the CMS investigation and then possibly escalate depending on what’s happens.

I honestly cannot believe it. I thought he was skint and couldn’t afford payments which is what he led me to believe. And being a trusting idiot went off of the CMS calculations.

It wasn’t until the letter today I realised it had gone tits up.

Always ask for a mandatory reconsideration. CMS don't hold many powers but after that stage gets declined you have 30 days to apply to DWP and further your case. It's a slow process but you can provide evidence to DWP and it can go to a tribunal. Good luck OP make sure you request it all back dating. Absolutely disgusting of him.
