Day 10 of horrible chest infection/flu thing - anyone else?

Just that. Coughing so hard I get dizzy and have pulled a muscle, no energy at all, happy to lie in bed. Slight improvement a couple of days ago - I actually went in the garden for a couple of hours! Then back to being wiped out.

My partner had the same thing and it took him over a month to shake it off. Covid tests showing negative.

Just fancied a moan, perhaps with some fellow sufferers. Haven't been able to get a doctor's appointment for this week, so I might as well just see it out now.

Feeling glum and bored.

Chewing thyme fresh or dried, half a teaspoon is a good expectorant to help get any phlegm up.

Add some apple cider vinegar to orange and honey drinks to help with your cough.

Try and eat, even if you are not feeling hungry, keeping your strength up.

I always take a sleeping pill to ensure that I sleep which helps me rest fully, aiding recovery.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes been ill since March 31st. Weird sore throat for 3 weeks and chesty phlegmy head and chest. Grim. Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve been ill since the end of February, chest infection, horrific cough, I thought it had gone two weeks ago but then I started with a sore throat like no other and now I’m coughing up thick green mucus.
I had a course of penicilin for strep throat that finished last week. My throat is still like sandpaper.

Sick of it.

Thanks for the replies- it's s a real stinker this one. It's somehow helpful to know I'm not alone. Someone I know was bed bound for 10 days - at least I have ventured out of the house, although admittedly not much.

It's so very draining. I hope you all get well soon.

I've been taking Chinese cough mixture, normal cough mixture, honey - not putting even a tiny dent in it. Cold and flu tablets seem to dry up the cough a bit and Night Nurse helps me to get a better night's sleep.

Good luck everyone.

I’ve had this too and gradually recovering. A couple of people have been pestering me to see my GP but I don’t see what they can do about it? Is it actually anything that doctors can do anything about? We keep being told not to see doctors for flu so I don’t see what a GP appointment would achieve for me? Covid tests were all negative, it’s just a really bad virus.
