Allergic to red label tea?

Odd one here. I normally drink Yorkshire Tea decaf / non decaf. I've ran out, but found a box of "red label" tea from when MIL stayed at Christmas.

I've had two cups this afternoon and my face is now red and inflamed, white around the mouth and eyes.

Literally every other food, drink, cleaning product etc I've used or consumed over the past 24 hours is our usual stuff.

Is red label tea a different type of tea? Could it be that I have an allergy to it? I've taken a piriton, in the hope whatever is causing it subsides, and won't try the tea again until tomorrow (to check).

Is it even a thing to have an allergy to a specific tea??

I hope you are feeling better.

Not sure about the tea but could it be the glue that they use to fuse the bags?

Thanks, it's eased a bit. My lips are tingling still. It definetly feels like I've had an allergic reaction for sure. I'm going to try the teabag again tomorrow to check. Never thought about the glue!

Came here searching for this. All I have ever drank is PG Tips. Lately I have noticed after having a cup of tea I get a really itchy back. It's been driving me mad. So strange. I am going to cut tea out for a few days and see if it improves
