How old is too old?

I'm not quite sure if I'm going to be able to explain this properly but I'll try.

How old is too old when replying to a thread? As in, how old does a thread have to be until you wouldn't comment on it.

I was wondering because of the zombie threads that pop up now and then. I like to read the MN classics sometimes, and occasionally think of something I'd like to add, but don't as it would resurrect a zombie thread.

I don't mean the threads where the OP was looking for an answer to something immediate. I was thinking more about the threads where people add funny experiences etc...

Well this has got no chance of becoming a zombie thread has it 🤣 it didn't even get comments when it was posted never mind further down the line 😂

Aww. Had to reply. I prefer to read and reply to threads that are current so whatever is going on within the last couple of weeks etc. Sometimes some advice becomes dated. Some medical ones, the health advice might have changed in the intervening years etc. As for the others,
obviously some posts need immediate answers but others I cannot even explain why I do not like to reply to old threads.
I do not like resurrecting zombie threads, would rather start new one with maybe fresh advice or new eyes etc.

The proper zombie threads have a message above the “Message” to alert you to the fact it’s a zombie.

So if it doesn’t have that, it’s fair game to revive.

24 hours with no additional posts, that's my limit.
