Did anyone get a second emergency alert?

Had the first alert yesterday bang on time and then this morning about 7.20ish my phone went off again with another. Scared the absolute crap out of me as I wasn’t expecting it.

Has it happened to anyone else?

No, just the one yesterday which I received at 14:59

Geckle · 24/04/2023 08:36

Yes, I got another random one about 4.30pm. My baby was napping and woke up because if it 👍🏼

Ihatethemessimin · 24/04/2023 08:38

Yes mine was delayed yesterday didn’t get it till about 7pm and had another one this morning at 8am

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 24/04/2023 08:39

DH, DS and I all got the first one at 2:59 and DH just got another about 8am. I didn’t and not sure about DS as he’s on the school bus. A friend posted on FB that she got a second around 3am 😵.

I’m glad it’s not just me Grin. I couldn’t find anything about it online. I keep eyeing my phone suspiciously now. Might do a Joey and put it in the freezer.

Nope. Not even a first! I feel well left out. At this rate I will be the only woman standing when there is a flood! I will probably be in work, typing away!!!

Hotpinkangel19 · 24/04/2023 12:36

I got a second one at 2:09 am this morning. Scared me to death!

It wouldn't be the UK government if the alerts didn't come early/late/not at all/more than once, would it!! They're pointless. Oh there's flooding? Oh I didn't see that with the eyes that I have, I must wait for the government to tell me.

This is my thinking on the whole damn business...

Seas164 · 24/04/2023 12:51

I'm still waiting for the first. I think someone must have pressed the wrong button on the Exel Spreasheet again.

Topseyt123 · 24/04/2023 12:55

Also still waiting for the first. The zombie apocalypse could be happening right now and I would be none the wiser.

DisappearingHelen · 24/04/2023 12:57

I got one at 0451. Horrid way to wake up. And I can’t figure out who to bitch about it too as nobody I know seems to have got one.

Whoiscomingtosaveyou · 24/04/2023 12:57

Mine is deactivated.
I can’t think of any situation where this might be useful.
If it’s nuclear it’ll be too late.
Fires you can see or smell generally

Flooding - it’s not a tsunami risk. If something is going to burst its banks it’ll go quickly so I doubt the message would get out in time, for other areas flood water rises more slowly.
Chemical attacks or leaks- maybe.

What previous disasters have we had that lives could have been saved had there been an alarm system in place? 🤔

DisappearingHelen · 24/04/2023 12:58

I have to also admit that whilst I was lying wide awake after it went off I kept myself busy by turning of the alerts. I want the emergency alerts but I’ll wait until the bugs are ironed out I think…

abbey44 · 24/04/2023 13:06

I haven’t had the first one yet (Vodafone, if that’s relevant). Clearly I’m in the cohort that’s going to be left to fry in the apocalypse…

CeliaCanth · 24/04/2023 13:56

Yes. First at 2.59 pm then the second at 3.14 pm!

Theoldcuriosityshop · 24/04/2023 13:58

Didn't get one at all.
