Talking to a friend the other day, and she said her mother lived in a village in the Cotwolds post-war, and didn't get running water or electricity in the house until she was 9, which would have been about 1957. They used to fetch water from the stream for everything.
My mother was born in Canada, and lived rurally. They had electricity in the house from when she was 3, about 1955, but no indoor toilet or bath until she was 18, so 1969 or thereabouts. They had an outhouse, chamber pots, and bathed once a week with water heated on the wood stove (which also heated the house).
So when did you, your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents lget modern conveniences in the house, and where did you live?
