If you didn't get the emergency alert, it may be (like me) because your system isn't the latest.

I wondered why I hadn't got the alert. I checked my phone to see if I'd turned the alerts off, but there is nothing on there for emergency alerts at all.
After a google, I discovered that you need to be running Android 11or later, or ios 14.5 or later for it to work.
Oops! I always avoid updating my phone... seems I should probably do it now!

My emergency alerts settings were hard to find.

Try going to settings and searching #emergencyalerts
On my phone the default setting was OFF for test alerts

Yes, I already tried that. There are no emergency alerts options at all. Searched, googled how to switch on and off and found several different ways. Definitely nothing on my phone.

Yours is to do with your network, it has been reported that many Three customers haven't had the alert.

Three changed emergency alert settings from accessibility to sounds folder at some point in a recent update. Maybe they need someone to check their software updates.

My notifications settings are all off. That will be why I didn't get it.

Well it was all a bit pointless then, so you will only get it on certain phones with certain operating systems? Neither me nor dh got it.

@ginghamstarfish it wasn't pointless, it was a trial. Now people know what to expect, to update their phones etc. Phone companies where it didn't work as planned such as Three and Id will probably fix the problem in their next update therefore the trial did exactly what it was supposed to do.

My OH and I are both running android 13, on exactly the same phone, on Vodafone, alert settings are both on. We were in the same place at the same time. He got the alert, I didn't. 🤔

I’m with ID Mobile on the Three network and got nothing. My phone is up to date and notifications are tuned on.

I agree it wasn’t pointless because otherwise the problems wouldn’t have been highlighted.

Quite the opposite, the purpose of testing. Is to find the things that don't work. How would issues be unidentified otherwise?

Me and my son sat in the ikea restaurant on a Sunday at 3pm hoping to get the best 'panic stations' effect from the alert. We did actually have to go to ikea for some stuff but thought it would be the busiest bit with the highest concentration of people.

Either many had their alarms turned off or it didn't work for many. It felt like maybe a quarter of the people were effected.

I have 2 phones and they went off at different times.
My EE went off at 2.59 and the Vodafone was at around 3.10. I thought my 2nd wasn't getting it at all and I had hands full in the shops!

My phone is running on iOS 16 and my emergency alerts are turned on but nothing happened for me.

I’m on O2, my iPhone has iOS 16.4.1 (most recent update was last night), notifications for both extreme and severe alerts are on. I was alone at home with my phone in the same room. I didn’t get the alert, nor the text message.

Same, I have an iPhone 13 which is fully updated with all my emergency alerts switched on. We all had a good signal - me and both dc are on Tesco mobile and my husband is Vodafone. None of the 4 phones in this house got the alert.
The test was useful for a lot of people, but I'm not one of them because I can't change anything. I suppose I will just have to accept we're getting fried!
