Festival attire for a wedding...

We're going to a wedding soon, and really looking forward to it, but I have no clue at all what to wear!

They've asked for festival attire, but having never been to a festival in my life - and not many weddings either - I really don't know what to wear. Especially for keeping warm etc at an outdoor all day venue, and assume I'll need to wear very sensible shoes/boots.

What would you wear if you were asked to wear that to a wedding?

Festival attire? Anything goes then. Just wear shorts and a t shirt OP.

Floral maxi dress, pretty low sandals or white trainers, boho style jewellery and a flower headband if I was feeling brave, would be the style I’d go for I think

Maxi dress flipflops denim jacket

Wellies and an anorak. I hope the toilet facilities aren't 'festival themed' too.

I used to have some amazing wellies a few years ago... wonder where they are

I do at least have a denim jacket!

I'd wear hot pants, wellies, a feather cape and face jewels

Whataretheodds · 23/04/2023 16:55

Definitely get yourself some extravagant headgear and/or face jewels/glitter

ManonDe · 23/04/2023 16:57

We have had a simialr invitation with a similar dress theme!

I was planning maxi dress and a floral headband.

Staid DH has no idea and is a bit alarmed with the concept. I might see if I can get some sort of paisley shirt for him.

The DCs will have glitter facepainting and tshirts.

Definitely no one will want to see me in hot pants... I wish! 🤣

My DH lives in tracksuit trousers and t shirts, and has a suit for weddings etc, so he's another issue!

I wonder if it is the same wedding... festival town and just a delightful gorgeous young couple. I am really looking forward to it. :)

gogohmm · 23/04/2023 17:02

3/4 length floral dress and trainers/wellies (depending on weather) too long and the dress ends up in the almost inevitable mud. Cross body bag for belongings and a waterproof jacket just in case. I would wear leggings under my dress if not that warm, shorts if warm (chub rub)

Maybe! If you see someone with mad hair looking confused- give me a wave! 😂

I don't actually know the couple well, so that makes it harder to work out what to wear... I'm terrified I'll either be over or under dressed!

I only really have formal things that sort of length. I do have a dress I could maybe put a knot in to shorten it, not sure how that would go.

But remember anything goes really. For men if really hot shorts and favourite band t shirt is fine, if not so warm decent jeans - pub attire basically

My DH doesn't have jeans, band t-shirts etc unfortunately

I would wear a long, loose dress w flat shoes. A denim or khaki canvas jacket if chilly. Straw hat if v sunny. DH could wear a print shirt and cotton trousers, shorts, or even jeans.

DarkHollowTree · 23/04/2023 18:49

Funny hat and tutu for DH!

Scottishskifun · 23/04/2023 18:55

I would go with a floaty dress with a denim jacket or lighter summer jacket and either sandals or trainers. Primark have a good selection at the moment.

Men I would say t-shirt and jeans or chinos and a casual ish shirt

McP13 · 26/05/2023 20:22

What about this with either wellies and a denim jacket or a pair of white trainers

Festival attire for a wedding...
Napmum · 26/05/2023 20:34

Wow, that is so vague. We had a festival wedding and asked for festival attire. But we said you could warrant what you like but if you wanted a dress code: men colourful, collared shirt and jeans (if your parntr is concerned go for chinos) and women wedges or flats, flowery or colourful dress.

Google Boho wedding guests for ideas, but a nice headband like a gold woven one would work well.

Also, the best option is to ask the bride many did ask me, and I was happy to go into detail

Good job you specified for them as that is not what I would associate a man wearing at a festival.

SocialLite · 26/05/2023 23:22

Exactly @Obviouspretzel ! I'm really worried that whatever we choose we'll be either over or under dressed

My festival dresses are short and tight that roll down very small to fit into my bags, which I wear with chunky white trainers lots of bracelets and a crossover bag. Anything goes at a festival!

However I would imagine they mean floaty dresses, flowers in hair, sandals.
