I work in hospitality as a hotel housekeeper. Big travel group with many hotels. New company after maternity leave but have done this work for years so know how it all works. Well should.. Head of department is my gripe. On departure days we mostly all come in early to strip beds in all departing rooms. We do this in 2's usually. I've been told this is because head housekeeper has been suspected of taking everyone's tips. (This was before she was recently promoted and was doing this with previous HHK) What I have been told is she was pocketing upto £100 a week.. obviously im fairly new so not sure if thats accurate but i have been told by multiple staff members. Staff starting and leaving in short timescales is also pretty frequent in my department which i think says alot, although there are other irrelevant issues with this colleague. My problem is I believe she is still doing this. On a smaller scale but I do think its still happening. Only yesterday I arrived early for my shift and heard her trying to access rooms on her own. We are not allowed to do this because of what I have just mentioned. Also all tips at the end of stripping beds are put into a pot and shared between all housekeepers but she never has any to contribute.. although she still gets whatever we do in the split. Other staff have confronted her in my presence and she has just gone bright red with little response (she does speak very little english so may be why there is not much of a response) Does anyone have any advice or should I just go to the hotel manager? I obviously dont have any evidence but I am not sure how to get any? She is always in before the rest of the team so has the opportunity. I'm just a little worried about doing this as she's been caught before and has still been given the opportunity to carry on.. I also don't want to cause problems within my team for nothing to change.
