My colleague was horrified when I did this. Never heard of it before!

I’ve not heard of it being bad luck before but I hate when I accidentally open crisps upside down. It just feels wrong.

InceyWinceySpidy · 22/04/2023 23:17

What?

Sorry, what?

Cocolapew · 22/04/2023 23:18

Yes

Whataretheodds · 22/04/2023 23:18

Well obviously - they'll all fall out of the bottom.

Idlechitchat · 22/04/2023 23:18

This is something kids used to say when I was at school 😂

CC4712 · 22/04/2023 23:18

Only if they all fall on the floor from being opened at the bottom 😂

GroovyGangConscript · 22/04/2023 23:19

Only if you put them down and later pick them up the right way, so all the crisps fall out.

lottiegarbanzo · 22/04/2023 23:20

Luck? What does that mean? Your colleague believes in an interventionist God of crisp-packets?

PickAChew · 22/04/2023 23:20

Only if you pick up the packet to read it, once they're open.

carriedout · 22/04/2023 23:20

That was widely believed when I was young. I trained myself out of it when older, but it was hard.

Dithyramb · 22/04/2023 23:21

Yes, it means you die before midnight. Without fail.

Wedoronron · 22/04/2023 23:22

Never heard this before. However, "superstition is believed by fools and carried on by idiots" as my ace Gran would say.

Couscousmoose · 22/04/2023 23:22

yes it's bad luck, and also you're going to wet the bed of you pick dandelions and you can only say "Christmas'' in December, you have to say "xmas" in all other months.

common knowledge

Convovulus · 22/04/2023 23:24

Mmm crisps

wwyd2021medicine · 22/04/2023 23:25

It's not bad luck
But they are then called Australian crisps

AutisticLegoLover · 22/04/2023 23:28

They are poisonous if opened upside down.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/04/2023 23:29

They were M&S bacon rasher crisps and very disappointing!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/04/2023 23:35

apparently if you get a green one it's good luck?!

OP posts:
EnthENd · 22/04/2023 23:37

You always open the bottom so you can get the tazo first.

NutButters · 22/04/2023 23:39

First person to eat a crisp from an upside down bag will die

GroovyGangConscript · 22/04/2023 23:40

I got a green crisp in a packet of Smiths Bacon Crisps in early 1984 but I don't remember anything lucky happening afterwards

DiscoBeat · 22/04/2023 23:41

Hopefully they were just being silly. If they believed that I worry for them!

Whaat? Only if you're hoping to find a green crisp!
