You can only pick one thing to eat for the rest of your life. What is it?

Inspired by the poster who has the same lunch/dinner 6 times this week!

Pick one thing that you have to eat for every meal/snack for the rest of your life. It can't be something vague like 'curry' or 'tapas'- this dish remains the same indefinitely, with absolutely no variations in cooking style, no additional ingredients etc.

I'm struggling to form an answer to my self made hypothetical dilemma .. what would be yours?

Probably Pad Thai made with prawns and lots of bean sprouts.

Does that count? I know it has to be made exactly the same each time. I am fine with that.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/04/2023 23:32

No contesr ... Koka noodles 😍😍😍😍

Karwomannghia · 21/04/2023 23:32

I think maybe toast with butter. In a way it has to be something bland (although toast and butter is delicious). Anything highly flavoured would become too much

I'd say that counts, and sounds a delicious choice! 😋

Tayto cheese and onion crisp sandwiches would be my choice if given the choice to pick one thing for the rest of my life 😋

If it has to be nutritionally ok then roast beef and all the trimming, apple pie and custard.

If it doesn't matter I'll have veggie pizza with extra pepperoni with a side of wedges

I hope that's all on one plate, else it's against the rules that I have arbitrarily conceived!

Pizza! Mushrooms, pepperoni, double cheese,

Snowjokes · 21/04/2023 23:36

Singapore vermicelli! Love it.

Seeingadistance · 21/04/2023 23:36

Watermelon! I love it!!!

Obviously, not exactly a balanced diet, but hey!

NuffSaidSam · 21/04/2023 23:36

Sunday roast (with chicken). Can I eat the constituent parts as a snack? Or do I have to eat a full roast dinner everytime I feel peckish?

Or maybe Tuna pasta bake.

MiniTheMinx · 21/04/2023 23:37

Moussaka and salad.

If I could only eat one simple food on its own I'd choose water chestnuts.

No, that's definitely cheating the system!

@artishard i have pad Thai every week on the one night I don’t have to cook every one else’s tea. I make enough for 2 people and nearly always eat it all !

Comedycook · 21/04/2023 23:40

coffeeiswgatkeepsmesane · 21/04/2023 23:40

I can't believe your family don't want in on the Pad Thai action. Or are you just unwilling to share? 😝

Jacket potato, beans, cheese, ham, coleslaw, salad and boiled egg with some sweet chilli sauce!

Pretty nutritious too! I could eat that everyday and never get bored!

I really hope these are separate components on the plate - I'm envisioning the world's most horrific loaded jacket potato right now 😅

Roasted pepper, tomato & lentil soup (or maybe it’s a sauce) chillis, loads of herbs, turmeric, lots garlic.

If we’re talking treats then M&S Madagascan Vanilla custard.

Cattenberg · 21/04/2023 23:47

A big salad containing a wide variety of veg, plus falafel, hummus, yogurt dip, grilled halloumi and sweet chilli sauce. Obviously, not all of the ingredients would be allowed to mix on the plate.

benfolds5 · 21/04/2023 23:49

Roast chicken and avocado salad (made with lettuce, grated carrot, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion, celery, radish, pumpkin seeds, and peri peri mayonnaise).

Cattenberg · 21/04/2023 23:49

Served with a few strips of freshly-baked pitta bread.

fuckitfuckitall · 21/04/2023 23:50

Crisp sandwiches with Bovril

'wide variety of veg' is far too unspecific! meal choice denied! 😝
