Holiday Park Recommendations

Hi,

This might be a long shot but thinking about what to do in the summer holidays and my friend and I thought it would
be fun to take our kids away for a weekend.

We’re looking for somewhere for 2 adults and 4 kids in the south. Similar to Center Parcs but we can’t afford holiday prices there! Maximum budget is £1000 for 3 nights in August.

Anyone have any hidden gems? Is Butlins as bad as it sounds?

We can see this thread is quite old now, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best UK holiday parks page with lots of great suggestions, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and editors. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I've never been to Butlins in the summer, but at other times it's been brilliant.

I think you'll struggle tbh for a week for 6 of you.

Yeah we were thinking caravan park type place as there will be stuff for the kids to do.

Were just thinking Friday to Monday.

Haven

I’m sure you you’ll be able to get something at Finlake for that budget.

Just go to any Haven but get the best grade of caravan you can afford as I find that makes the difference between a miserable holiday and a comfortable one- more space, nicer stuff, dishwasher etc etc. We’ve been to loads of different Havens and always enjoy them; we don’t do the entertainment etc but just use them as a base to explore the local areas and use the beach. Caister is probably our favourite one.
