Was sat having coffee and saw van for a company called ‘Ghost Maintenance’ providing maintenance services for landlords. Their logo was literally a clipart, cartoon ghost. No wordplay. Just ‘Ghost Maintenance’.

was it the guy’s surname?
did he just really like ghosts?
can they also maintain your ghosts?

I can’t find it online and I am gutted

Have you ever seen an odd company name? I don’t mean a pun like ‘curl up and dye, just something…odd?

Whenever I used to see the Patient Transport Service buses that transported locals to the hospital I smiled to myself. They use their initials and as someone who worked with animals Pts has another meaning.

notsayingmuch · 22/04/2023 09:13

There is an AGP Plumbing driving his van around here. Makes me smile, as a regular visitor to the feminism boards.

OldTinHat · 22/04/2023 09:13

There's a removal company on the IoW called Cowes Moovers and their vans are painted black and white like Freisan (sp?!) cows.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/04/2023 09:14

The first thing you need to check before appointing an estate agent is that they're hard-working, efficient and pro-active.

I come across a lot of newly named companies at work, created by corporate carve outs or mergers.

They usually use some stupid Latiny nonsense that ends up sounding like a bad Harry Potter spell.

Most recently we had “Eviosys” - a very exciting company that makes… tin cans.

topcat2014 · 22/04/2023 09:33

There was a bus company near me called Boomerang. I guess because the buses went out and then came back

x88mph · 22/04/2023 09:36

I’m in Germany. Someone on my street works for the local BMW dealership and often comes home in a car with their branding. Cuntz BMW.

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 22/04/2023 09:47

There's a company called Willie wiper by here, and I always smile when I see their vans.

They have a little Willie wiper mascot which people take away on trips with them, he's been to all kinds of places.

There was (maybe there still is?) a shop on the Kings Road that sold cowboy boots
R.Soles
That always made me giggle

I saw a van for LTB Carpentry. Before I was on MN I wouldn't have noticed but this made me snigger.

I saw a removal van called LTB removals. I even took a photo as it tickled me so much. The ideal company to move your stuff when you're leaving the bastard

sixtiesbaby88 · 22/04/2023 13:33

Wet N Warm plumbing

Spidey66 · 22/04/2023 13:37

Not a bizarre name but a clever one....there used to be s shop in Stoke Newington in North London selling white goods. Their name was Sell Fridges.

isthismylifenow · 22/04/2023 14:02

Not in UK but we have a few goods ones

I was driving behind a van belonging to a scaffolding company and the logo is 'we provide the best erections'

The toilet hire company 'Yesterdays meals on wheels'

Bolt and tool company ... 'Nuts in all shapes and sizes'

I think only other Saffers will get this one....a plumber called Kakibos.

ThreeRingCircus · 22/04/2023 14:26

I've never understood the reasoning behind the high street shops Sweaty Betty and Fat Face.

There was a motorcycle repair place in Bristol called Piston Broke

I wonder if they've been around as long as this motorbike rally?

Brickwork pointing company near me:

And not as bizarre as it may seem, apparently, Mr. Massacre of Innocents was big into redevelopment:

There’s an engineering company called CBA Engineers but the logo is just CBA, when I see the van driving around I always imagine the driver is on his last nerve.

On the topic of the village of Muff, @ThisIsNotAmerican I was on the bus once and the people behind me were discussing how one their fellow teaching graduates had got a job in the school in Muff, leading them to christen him with the title The Muff Master 😂

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/04/2023 18:55

There's a wonderful bakery in a town near us, where they very much do take the trouble to make delicious products well and the service is great and friendly; but nevertheless, they are a member of the Craft Bakers Association, and I still chuckle every time I go in and see the CBA sticker in the window!

Aylestone · 22/04/2023 18:57

Construction company by me called Botchett and Scarper :)

SinnerBoy · 22/04/2023 19:00

There's a Cracket & Sons glazier, in the Newcastle area.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/04/2023 19:00

I suppose, when you run a retail premises in a small Shropshire village with that name, you couldn't really not call it that - but it still doesn't stop it from being funny!
