2 nights in Edinburgh or 4 nights in Benidorm?

We had planned to go to Edinburgh next month for 2 nights
We have just seen we can go to Benidorm for 4 nights for the same price (actually a tiny bit cheaper )
What would you do ?

Depends what you are into. They are very different options

BibbleandSqwauk · 20/04/2023 10:40

Who is we? You and partner, kids? What do you like doing..culture or sunbed? Are you mega stressed right now and need a flop in the sunshine or up for the faster paced city break? Personally I'd never choose Benidorm specifically over any other holiday but the answer to your query depends on so many variables it's pretty meaningless.

Lcb123 · 20/04/2023 10:41

Very very different places… really depends what you want! If you want a city break bit warmer weather why not look at Malaga

ohdannyboi · 20/04/2023 10:42

I love the sunshine
Just got back off holiday a month ago but already craving some sun
No more abroad holidays till November
I do love city breaks too
If we went to Benidorm I wouldn't be partying or anything like that-just stick to the old town /nice restaurants etc

It's only because we found a return flight to Benidorm for £48
And the train to Edinburgh is £87

For the sun - benidorm

Menopants · 20/04/2023 10:57

You might get 18 degrees and a bit of sun in Edinburgh if you are lucky but it might also be sub 10 degrees and blowing a gale.

It’s a lovely place. But you will need to pack for all seasons

bananaboats · 20/04/2023 11:00

Personally I'd prefer Edinburgh but its a personal choice what your looking for in a break as 2 very different places.

Slaistery · 20/04/2023 11:11

Edinburgh is not the place if you want guaranteed sun. It’s also relatively expensive to eat out at the moment.

However, it has lots to see and do, great bars, restaurants, galleries, museums, history and culture.

it’s like comparing nail clippers and scissors - they’ll both do the job but are totally a matter of preference.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 20/04/2023 11:12

My username might be a giveaway, but Benidorm, all the way! It's cheap and cheerful fun, and the Old Town is lovely if the Levante end isn't your thing.

abigailsnan · 20/04/2023 11:45

Benidorm for sure, the Old Town for the restaurants and atmosphere and Tapas Bars.
Jump the bus to Altea and browse the Art Galleries and quaint little shops visit the Church you may find a wedding going on if you are lucky.

hilbil21 · 20/04/2023 11:51

1000% Benidorm

davegrohll · 20/04/2023 12:01

I love Benidorm, the old town is lovely. I don't drink so I don't go for what people think it's all about !

BarbaraofSeville · 20/04/2023 13:27

You could combine both and stay in Alicante, where the flight actually goes, which is great for a city break, and has a beach?

LlynTegid · 20/04/2023 14:05

Edinburgh. Not just to reduce carbon emissions but because I'd want to avoid the kind of Brit abroad that are often seen there.

I like the main museums and the castle in Edinburgh too.

AffIt · 20/04/2023 15:02

Sorry to derail, but is Benidorm nice - the Old Town and thereabouts?

I'll admit to having been very snobbish about it and would never have thought to go, but some folks on this thread seem to rate it - my interest is piqued.

OP, I'm Scottish - Glaswegian, but have lived in Edinburgh too - and the problem with Edinburgh (Scotland in general) in May is that it can be stunningly beautiful, but it can also sleet sideways: literally anything is possible. Bear in mind it's also a very expensive city (far more so than Glasgow).

If you're prepared to take your big coat and put your hand in your pocket, then Edinburgh, but yeah, I'm kind of interested in Benidorm now too. Look forward to hearing your decision!
