Bad Hair Colouring at Hairdressers, WWYD?

Talktomyselfforhours · 19/04/2023 21:17

Had my hair coloured in Balayage at a VERY well known and expensive hairdresser chain last week (over £200) and this is what I got....horizontal lines and uneven tones. My hair was pretty much naked as not had colour for around 2 years.
I'm so so gutted as it was a treat to myself for my upcoming birthday party this week and I trusted I'd get a good experience at this chain.
I phoned them up today and didn't recieve an apology as such but asked to send photos so they can assess what needs to be fixed. If I'm honest I'm scared they'll make it worse and am dreading going back.
Do you think another branch of the chain could help or would they not if they are all separately owned and franchised?
Feeling so so gutted. Pictures of what i asked for vs what I got.....
What would you do?

What type of stylist did you book with?

Whether it's a chain salon or an independent it will totally depend on the stylists skill.

I would be pissed off aswell op and I would call them again tomorrow and ask them what day this week before your birthday will they be booking you in to fix it.

MrsMitford3 · 19/04/2023 21:23

Sorry @Talktomyselfforhours is the first pic you or what you wanted?

The other pics are awful...

Cailinnua · 19/04/2023 21:24

If possible call in and speak to the manager. It is more difficult for them to fob you off face to face.

Ask for a refund and go elsewhere if possible

In this chain there are colour specialists, specifically who do colour only, I then booked a separate stylist to cut as they don't do both

I'd ask for a refund, how disappointing. Don't worry, you'll get sorted somewhere else.

Do you think that's possible with a hairdresser? Never ever complained about my hair before or needed anything fixing, but this has really peed me off!!

Toni and guy? It's never going to look the same as the first one as that's been styled, not straightened.

The colour isn't good though so I would go back.

GulfCoastBeachGirl · 19/04/2023 21:30

The stylist did an awful job. There's such an obvious line where s/he put the packets in.

The color itself...do you have a lot of red in your hair? To achieve the color on the left might require a base color as well as balayage.

At any rate, contact the salon and request a consult. They need to fix that and you shouldn't be charged.

ineedafairygodmother · 19/04/2023 21:33

To achieve the same colour as the picture you wanted you'd have to go darker at the root. Your hair hasn't been lifted enough to be toned to the colour you wanted either. And yes there's horizontal lines which shouldn't be there. I'd ask for a refund but be prepared to fight for it, hairdressers will usually prefer to 're-do' the hair rather than give a client their money back.

Suzi888 · 19/04/2023 21:34

Yes happened to me once, they will give you a refund- they’ll probably offer a redo first. But ultimately you can get a refund and go elsewhere. I did.

Frankenweenie · 19/04/2023 21:35

There's literally a line across your hair. I'd be annoyed OP and would be asking for a refund and going elsewhere to get it fixed.

Padstow58 · 19/04/2023 21:36

That's terrible, OP. I could've done better than that!

No, my hair is a mousey brown, not had any colour in it for out 2 years so apart from the very tips there was little remnants of colouring. I did ask as when I've had balayage in the past they've put a darker brown colouring through rest of hair to show the contrast better but she said no.
To make matters worse I've looked online to figure out why it all cost £220 and i think I've been overcharged. £135 colouring and £67 cut so god knows how they've come to that so need to complain about that too!

How did you guess!

This is styled by me quickly this morning not straight after hairdressers (Saturday)

It's awful, you need to go back and insist they fix it. However colouring it again so close might not be a good idea.

Oh really? Can this make it worse again?

PuffinsRocks · 19/04/2023 21:42

Yeah I'd ask for a free colour correction to sort out the mess they made.

Motnight · 19/04/2023 21:55

I don't think that I would trust them to correct it. I would be asking for a refund.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 19/04/2023 21:58

Its usual to give them a chance to fix it. I have had this and had a manager take it over to fix it, ended up with a decent style.

Justalittlebitduckling · 19/04/2023 22:02

I’ve been back before with a bad colour. They saw me after hours because they were clearly embarrassed about it and fixed it for free. It was just before my wedding so I had to bite the bullet and be assertive.
