I applied for what I thought would be a great job, there was a problem with the job portal so I'd been shortlisted but didn't get an email and couldn't log in. I was really disappointed.

If I'd have got the job, I would have started the week before my Dad died unexpectedly so not an ideal time to take 2 weeks compassionate leave (assuming that would have granted it even).

Instead when I felt ready, I applied for and got my dream job, shorter hours and commute.

I didn't get the course that I wanted and went to a different university, where I met my husband.
