Think I’ve had a good idea

I think I might have had a good idea for a duvet.

I can’t fit my duvet into my washing machine and there’s not a nearby launderette and I can’t really afford forcing it to be dry cleaned.

Why can’t manufacturers l make them in some sort of zippable squares so that you could wash a couple of squares at a time. There may already be something like this on the market and if anyone has seen one please let me know.

Sounds cold.

Sounds uncomfy

No, zips become faulty quite quickly

And tedious. Single duvets you can attach to another single duvet already exist for people who like different togs

Applesinmyhouse · 19/04/2023 15:01

That is a good idea, but poppers not zippers. Two single duvets could be popped together to create a bigger duvet and taken apart to wash. The poppers would have to be good though, and flat.

And why are you giving your business ideas away on a public forum? You should be saving it for Dragons Den

Do they? That sounds amazing!

Dontbelieveaword · 19/04/2023 15:02

@Applesinmyhouse OK, I'm going to have to Google it now but I'm pretty sure they exist

Popper will unpop during the night (at least in my bed they would) and you'll be fishing around in the cover each morning to re-Frankenstein your duvet.

They definitely do 'couples duvets' on amazon etc but maybe I've only imagined where you connect them yourself?

PeskyRooks · 19/04/2023 15:08

I think this sounds like genius although agree with pp poppers rather than zips or even velcro. Then if your child vomits on the duvet you'd only have to rip the soiled bits off to wash. You would have to be able to buy the squares though then you could replace just one square if you get a stain or hole in one part.

The only trouble would be the expense of making the squares it might not be worth it for a company to make, duvets are relatively cheap anyway I suppose?

carriedout · 19/04/2023 15:12

I think it sounds a good idea. You could buy spare squares.

I have one of those duvets where two bits popper together if you want it warmer, it never comes undone. The poppers at the end of my duvet almost never come undone.

In terms of a laundrette, there are large washing machines starting to be installed in various places. For example there is a couple of washers and a dryer at the petrol station near my work and also some at my local shopping centre.
