Easyjet flights and baggage

Is there any benefit to booking extra baggage or can I wait and see if I need it? I'm only going on a short trip. Short flight and short stay, so I'm not bothered about extra space or priority boarding and think I'll be Ok with the small cabin bag, although that will depend a bit on the weather forecast!

Can I decide later or is it cheaper to do it now?

Can't comment on easyjet, but i know with Ryanair it gets more expensive to do it later

There are limited number of cabin bags on the plane. I’ve been in the situation before and I tried to add a cabin bag later and they were all sold out. I wore extra layers on the plane and made do with the small bag

Remember that the small cabin bag is just that - it needs to fit under the seat in front of you, so it’s a handbag or small rucksack or tote bag etc. It’s not a cabin case. That’s classed as a large cabin bag and you need to pay extra for it.

You can do it post booking. I just did a week in Austria where it was quite cold and managed with a small under seat bag which is the exact Easyjet dimensions allowable. Just did layers, it was fine. We did it mainly because we had a train journey mid holiday and didn't want to be encumbered by a case.
