Magazine for 11yo

DD loved Shout magazine but apparently its being discontinued and no new issues will be published! Any recommendations for an alternative (preferably one which isn't hugely expensive - some I've seen at £9 per issue which seems a bit much)?

DD wants something with articles about growing up, as well as make up and celebrities (not 2 things I have any interest in but I don't want to stop her reading about them if she's interested)

Thanks!

Oh dear. I think Shout is pretty much the last one going of that type. There is Top of the Pops (TOTP is what it says on the cover) which despite it's name is a tween girls celebrity one so she might like that but that's is it.
They've all died and gone 😕

I don't think girls' teen magazines are a thing anymore. There's probably no market for them anymore as everything's online but it's a shame. I used to love all the mags, Mizz, Shout, Sugar and the free gift that used to come with them. Sad that girls of the future won't have that.

I might have to buy the last issue of Shout for nostalgia.

Ah, make up and teen stuff.....my suggestion of Aquilla or for those wanting more in depth science Oyla are probably not going to be useful on this thread!

No, but ive noted them down for niece 1😊

Needmorelego · 18/04/2023 19:15

@OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea yeah... I used to enthusiastically buy my daughter ones like Science and Nature when she was around age 11. She never read the darn things. Just wanted ones like Hello Kitty comic for the stickers and cheap bracelets 🙄

GrouchyKiwi · 18/04/2023 19:18

Heh, I came on to suggest Science & Nature, which my 11-year-old loves (and so do her little sisters). Grin

No idea about the other kind, sorry.

Thanks all 🙂 I might look at TOTP or find an online one (but she also likes computer games so I was reluctant to add more screen time)
