Can anyone help? I bought some because I read it was healthy but now I dont know what to have it with- is it plain on its own or do you just have it instead of rice or what?

It's lovely if you mix it with salad
I tend to add some herbs or spices through it when it's cooking, can also cook it with a low salt stock cube instead of just plain water to add a bit of flavour

Buy it with good intentions then leave it at the back of the cupboard like the rest of us?

(Though tbh I mostly just have mine in place of rice / lentils / whatever. Or as part of a salad.)

Use it when you cba to peel potatoes or don't have time to boil rice

Grin I haven’t peeled a potato in about a quarter of a century!

Quinoa takes longer to cook than rice, doesn't it?

We're currently using ours as a substitute for cous cous as we're trying to use it up and probably won't buy it again.

So anything where you need something 'grainy' like with a stew or salad.

Make crack? In all the items I have every trialled - and there are hundreds - I have never tasted anything like this...

A large proportion of my larder comes from them, @teneastereggs. I know things are probably cheaper elsewhere but I love the sense of adventure - and discovering new sources of British grown food. (Also I almost never buy takeaways or processed food, so that’s a saving.)

I like to roast some aubergine, courgette, pepper and tomatoes with a bit of garlic and serve warm with quinoa and olive oil and balsamic drizzled on and some feta crumbled on top.

lipstickwoman · 18/04/2023 15:16

@BarbaraofSeville I'm thinking of couscous 🤦🏻‍♀️. Ignore me

trulyunruly01 · 18/04/2023 15:24

I chop lettuce, salad leaves, onion, cue, toms, coriander, parsley, and olives really small and mix it with quinoa, mix in a little good olive oil and toss it all together with salt and pepper to taste. Blimming luvly stuff.

Throw it in the bin?

What @AndyandTeddyarewavinggoodbye said.

Or if you don't like waste you could give it away.
