What’s the best present you’ve ever received from a friend?

My best friend has been an incredible support to me through some difficult times recently and I’d like to send her a lovely gift. I don’t want to send flowers, I’d prefer something that is a bit more memorable.

So please tell me what has been your favourite gift from a friend, so I can steal the ideas. She loves pretty things, likes hosting, likes make up so is easy to please.

OR what present are you coveting that you’d secretly like to be bought?

A friend once turned up on my doorstep with some lovely Mac eyeshadow palettes and lippies! Gift wrapped v poshly! Felt very indulgent I loved it 😊

What a lovely gift, that is exactly the kind of thing she’d like. Currently looking at Charlotte Tilbury to see if there’s anything nice there she’d like.

A friend sent me a really nice quality fake orchid arrangement in a glass vase - I keep it in the room where I work from home and it puts a smile on my face. And no maintainence!

A silver bangle with a personal message engraved inside.
Best gift ever.

This doesn’t really help you, but the best present I received from a friend was two books on a subject we both loved, which were not easily available at the time(pre internet).

One year on the bones of our arses our neighbours gave us a sack of potatoes for Christmas.

Another present we had many years ago was oil lamps. They were for practical use when we lived in an area that had frequent powercuts. We now use them for ambient lighting. We have had them 34 years now.

A bottle of wine and a hug

Love all the presents so far, a sack of potatoes is genuinely a useful present! Someone gave us one during Covid and it was v helpful.

A Pandora charm when I graduated uni as a single mum!

My best friend made me a scrap book of photos of us and places we have been, ticket stubs, quotes, fun memories. It means so much to me and the fact she had spent so much time on it makes it one of my most special possessions.

Fantina · 17/04/2023 21:00

@thestorm Thats so special

A shop-sized tub of sweets and a case of coke zero! She knows me so well.

When I had a baby, a client of my husband's sent us 16 cupcakes. Delivered very carefully by UPS so even the frosting was intact. We saved the fancy box and used it as DD's memory box. They were delicious.

😂 they had a nice big house that they owned! That would be worth well over a million today. No..we were in a council semi, having been allocated a rural village, no bidding or options, take it or go to the bottom of the list days, we were skint!
Lol..the oil lamps are brilliant..
