DC persistent ear issue (cannot get a HCP to lhsten)

For context I myself am a HCP so do understand the NICE etc guidelines re prescribing. However, what am I as a parent supposed to do when my child us in so much pain they cannot sleep at night.
DC aged 16 developed sinusitis around 3-4 weeks ago. Ill for around a week, nothing drastic and the sinusitus resolved. The ear pain in one ear persisted off and on and for the last week has been pretty bad.
wasn’t able to get a GP appt last week so took him to the local minor illness/ injury walk in place. They looked, couldn’t visualise the eardrum and said it was wax, suggested getting an OTC drops which we did however after one dose he was in agony!! Couldn’t sleep last night and after giving him ibuprofen/ warm compress etc resorted to cocodamol which did allow him to sleep a bit but woke up the same this morning. Managed to get an appt with a paramedic at the surgery this morning who looked and said his ear drum looked red and sore but nothing they could do/ prescribe and weirdly just kept banging on about why I hadn’t done a covid test three weeks ago?? Seemed to think it was fine to keep giving him cocodamols (its really not ok to keep giving a teenager opioids in these circs imo). He is completely deaf in that ear as well. I’m really worried for the pain the deafness and how this is going to impact on him in the-run up to his GCSE’s

As a fellow HCP you have my sympathy. I am a prescriber working in urgent care and I will often prescribe phenazone for this type of ear pain - it's got lidocaine in so works as a painkiller. Also recommended by NICE for ear infections which don't require antibiotics.
Could you get a phone call appt and ask for this?
Good luck

@ChocHotolate thank you very much for your response which is incredibly helpful. If he’s not more comfortable tomorrow I will call the practice and enquire about these drops!
